Earlier this week, Shakira met with Hard Rock International to donate items from her personal closet to the brand’s legendary collection. Among the new items added to Hard Rock’s permanent collection are the sparkling gold stage outfit worn by Shakira during her 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards performance and the festive tank top and black fringe skirt she rocked in the music video for the official 2010 FIFA World Cup song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

To commemorate the donation and honor Shakira’s generous ongoing commitment to those in need, Hard Rock donated more than $185,000 to Fundación Pies Descalzos in support of the organization’s new school project in Cartagena, Colombia.

“I am honored to share these one-of-a-kind pieces from my closet with Hard Rock, a brand that has helped support my Fundación Pies Descalzos for many years,” said Shakira. “With Hard Rock’s generous contributions to the foundation through this donation and past projects, we have significantly helped transform the lives of thousands of Colombian children and communities in need.”

Founded by Shakira in 1997, Fundación Pies Descalzos is devoted to providing higher education and support for Colombian children and community inhabitants whose lives have been displaced by violence and poverty. The non-profit organization is in the process of building its sixth Pies Descalzos School in Cartagena, which is projected to directly benefit 1,700 students and 34,000 parents and community members upon its completion. A principios de esta semana, Shakira visitó el Hard Rock Café de Los Ángeles donde hizo donación de nuevas prendas para la colección permanente de esta institución. Entre los vestidos donados se encuentra el look que shakira lució en los premios MTV Europa del año 2009 y el vestido del vídeo Waka Waka (Esto es África).

Para conmemorar esta donación y para honrar el trabajo filantrópico de Shakira, Hard Rock hizo una donación de más de $185,000 dólares a la Fundación Pies Descalzos que se invertirán en Cartagena (Colombia).

“Estoy honrada de compartir estas piezas únicas con Hard Rock, una marca que ha ayudado a mi Fundación Pies Descalzos durante muchos años” afirmó Shakira quien añadió que “con las generosas donaciones de Hard Rock a la fundación en éste y otros proyectos, hemos transformado las vidas de miles de niños y niñas necesitados en Colombia y sus comunidades”

La Fundación Pies Descalzos fue fundada en Barranquilla, Colombia a finales de los años 90 y ofrece programas de apoyo a los niños y sus familias ofreciendo soluciones reales que no solamente mejoran la calidad de sus vidas sino que también les garantiza su derecho a una educación de calidad, que va a determinar su crecimiento y su éxito en la sociedad. Pies Descalzos está construyendo una nueva escuela en Cartagena que beneficiará a más de 1,700 estudiantes y 34,000 miembros de la comunidad.
