The amazing new album was co-written and produced by Shakira, who worked with a diverse range of superstar producers and songwriters?including Pharrell Williams and the Neptunes, Wyclef Jean, Timbaland and John Hill.
"My biggest motivation was to make an album that people could just have fun with, and forget about their troubles," says Shakira. "Now I can use music for the purpose it's created for to amuse and entertain people, and also express other feelings, but things that are more personal."
She Wolf was first heralded by its title track, which quickly became a global smash, driven by its infectious electro groove and attention-grabbing video. The follow-up singles Did It Again and Give It Up To Me (the latter recorded for the special US version of the album), both continued Shakira's latest assault on the world's airwaves, once again proving her ability to make surefire pop smashes while also innovating her sound.
"This was a sonic experimental trip," she agrees. "I wanted to play around with electronica, beats, synthesizers and I began to research folk from other countries looking for new influences that allowed me to combine electronics with world sounds, tambourines, clarinets, oriental and Hindu music, dancehall, etc.,? she has said. "You never know the final destination of a creative project, but from the beginning I wanted to make sure that this album had a very strong foundation. I wanted it to be very bass-driven, and to make sure the kicks hit really hard."
She succeeded. Not only does She Wolf kick like a mule, it re-affirms Shakira's position at the very top of the pop tree.

Like its predecessor, "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" set a few records. The single "Hips Don't Lie" featuring Wyclef Jean reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the most-played song in the history of pop radio. The song was also a digital phenomenon, selling a record-breaking 266,500 downloads in its first week. It has now been downloaded more than 1.5 million times. "Hips Don't Lie" snared a Grammy nomination for best pop collaboration with vocals in 2007.
Shakira was the most nominated artist for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the statue for Best Choreography. "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" has now sold more than 8 million copies worldwide.

In an innovative move, Shakira decided to issue a new project, 2 albums - one in Spanish and one in English - a few months apart. "Fijación Oral Vol.1" came out in June 2005 and landed at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in the US, making it the highest debut for a Spanish language album in the SoundScan era. It topped the Billboard Latin Album chart upon release, as well as charts in nine other countries.
The lead single, "La Tortura", which features Spanish superstar Alejandro Sanz, shot to #1 on the Hot Latin Tracks Billboard chart, where it stayed for a staggering, record-setting 25 weeks. It has since gone onto sell close to four million units. Shakira received many awards for this album, including 2 ALMA Awards, 5 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 1 Grammy and 5 Latin Grammys.
Siguiendo una estrategia revolucionaria, Shakira decidió embarcarse en un proyecto muy especial: publicar dos álbumes - uno en español, otro en inglés - separados por unos meses. Creating Laundry Service was a great challenge for Shakira. For the first time in her musical career, she came out with a crossover album, recording songs in both English and Spanish. Clearly, she overcame this challenge as the album became top 3 in the United States and the United Kingdom and more than 20 million copies were sold worldwide.
Shakira received four MTV Latin America Awards (Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist, Video of the Year (for "Suerte"e;), and Artist of the Year) for Laundry Service. She also received the Latin Grammy for Best Music Video for the single "Suerte".
Componer Laundry Service supuso un gran reto para Shakira ya que, por primera vez en su carrera musical, se puso a grabar canciones en inglés. Shakira's MTV Unplugged album was recorded acoustically in New York on August 12th 1999. The album led to her first Grammy Award (for Best Latin Pop Album). It was produced by Emilio Estefan Jr., featured music arranged by Tim Mitchell and sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.

The album title for "¿Dónde Están Los Ladrones?", which translates to "Where Are The Thieves?" was conceived by an unpleasant event experienced by Shakira. While waiting in an airport in Bogotá, a thief stole Shakira's bag which held all of the lyrics and partitures of the songs for her new album.
"¿Dónde Están Los Ladrones?" sold 10 million copies worldwide. Shakira received 2 Latin Grammy's from this album,including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. She also received her first Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock Alternative Album.
El título de este trabajo de Shakira estuvo inspirado en un hecho real: mientras Shakira estaba esperando en un aeropuerto, un ladrón una maleta que contenía todas las partituras y letras de las canciones que ella había compuesto.

There were six singles released from the "Pies Descalzos" album: "Estoy Aquí," "Donde Estas Corazon," "Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos," "Un Poco de Amor," "Antología" and "Se Quiere Se Mata." For this album, Shakira received three Billboard Latin Music Awards in the categories of Album of the Year, Best New Artist and Video of the Year for "Estoy Aqui".
